Hi, I’m Joe Millen, PT MTC, and I’ve been treating clients with pain and injuries for 35 years. I’m an orthopedic and sports physical therapist, husband, father and an athlete. I’ve struggled with the pain of old injuries and the chronic re-injury cycle that interferes with my ability to perform athletically in all aspects of life.

To be honest, I got tired of the short term “fix ‘em and forget ‘em” model of rehab, dealing with “insurance first, patient second” clinical world, I wanted more for myself and my clients.

It drives me nuts the way my clients have been treated by this old model. They’ve been told by experts that this is what their life will be like, that there was nothing they can do, or that they’re just going to have to learn to deal with the injury or limitations of their body for the rest of their life.

That’s why I developed “Prompting” as a technique to overcome a major obstacle to your healing, your inability to access your root cause and correct it. Prompting focuses on developing your connection to your body. You gain control over how you move or exercise so you can adjust your body to stop the re-injury process and optimize your movement.

It’s a way to stop the pain and get back to doing the things you love to do with your body.

Over the last 10 years, we’ve worked with over 2,000 clients who’ve suffered with the pain and injury cycle to achieve their health and athletic goals.

Our clinically based fitness programs are designed to integrate healing with performance. I live in Palm Harbor, Florida with my wife of 35 years and our youngest of six children.

After doing this most of my adult life, I believe there are three major areas where healthcare is failing:

1. Injured Athletes Are Not Diagnosed Properly

The pain and re-injury cycle are an indication that whatever you are doing isn’t working.

Modern healthcare is episodic. It’s focused on short term fixes. You are seen as a body part and not as an athlete. Most clinics are only focused on blocking your ability to feel the pain and not fixing the root cause. Your problem requires mapping the injury and finding the root causes. Then we can finally get to work on stopping your pain for good.

2. Most Treatment Options Are Missing The Most Important Thing…

Exercise and Treatment programs don’t account for your unique problems.

When you have pain or injury, your body will compensate for limitations or restrictions without you knowing it. This means that during an exercise, even when you try to do the correct form, your body makes adjustments that you are unaware of. Unless you are able to access your body and identify where you are restricted or weak and why, your chances of success are random at best. Treatment needs to center on YOU and your ability to understand and participate in your healing. That’s why doing a recipe of corrective exercises often doesn’t work. By learning to access your body and identify its compensations, you can learn to make each exercise specific for you and regain your athletic form.

3. Most Experts Say “You’ll Just Have to Live With It”

It drives me crazy when experts tell you to give up the activities you love or settle for pain.

It’s not a simple do this and not that approach. The “give it up” solution is a way of the experts washing their hands of you. That way you can’t blame them if you hurt yourself. But as an experienced athlete you understand and take responsibility for your actions.

What I want to offer you are ways in which you can have your cake and eat it too. To play and perform while healing your body.

Don’t settle. You deserve better. You’ve worked too hard.

As your Expert Guide, we’re committed to finding your unique solutions and helping you achieve your goals.

Here Is What a Few Of Our Clients Shared About Working With Us:

Thomas M. Andrews, MD

John Hopkins Medicine/All Children’s Hospital “I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your impact on my life. Your excellent skills and your keen insight into physical complaints are key to keeping me healthy and able to complete my goals. My success in the Ironman is due to you.”

Craig Stevens

Before developing a fitness regimen for me, Joe asked me about my personal health issues, in my case shoulder tendinitis, arthritic knees and gout. Two years later I have no shoulder or knee issues and I can do 50 push ups and 100 sit ups. For someone seeking an active life I recommend Joe Millen.
